Sika Deer are social animals, often found in herds led by dominant males during mating season. They are adaptable and can thrive in various habitats, including forests, grasslands, and marshes. They are primarily crepuscular, active during dawn and dusk.

Breeding among Sika Deer occurs during the autumn rutting season, where males compete for females through displays and battles. Females give birth to one or two calves after a gestation period of about 7 to 8 months. Calves stay with their mothers for several months before becoming more independent.

Adult Sika Deer typically weigh between 40 to 70 kilograms (88 to 154 pounds) and stand about 70 to 95 centimeters (28 to 37 inches) tall at the shoulder. They have antlers that are relatively small compared to other deer species, with branches forming a simple fork shape.

Native to East Asia, Sika Deer have been introduced to various parts of the world, including Europe, North America, and New Zealand, where they often thrive and can become invasive in some regions. They are valued for hunting and as an exotic species in some wildlife reserves.

The conservation status of Sika Deer varies by region, with some populations stable and managed for hunting and others causing ecological concerns due to their impact on native vegetation and habitats. Management strategies aim to balance their ecological role and human interests.
