Red-eyed Tree Frogs are nocturnal and arboreal, spending the daytime sleeping on the underside of leaves with their legs tucked in and eyes closed to hide their colors. At night, they become active, hunting for insects and other small prey. Their loud calls are characteristic, used by males to attract females during the breeding season.

Breeding typically occurs during the rainy season. Males gather near water sources and call to attract females. After mating, the female lays her eggs on the underside of leaves that overhang water. When the tadpoles hatch, they drop into the water below where they continue their development.

Red-eyed Tree Frogs are small to medium-sized frogs, measuring about 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm) in length. They possess suction-cup-like toe pads that enable them to climb and adhere to leaves and branches effectively.

Native to tropical rainforests in Central America, from southern Mexico through Central America to Colombia, Red-eyed Tree Frogs are often associated with rainforest preservation efforts due to their iconic and colorful appearance.

Red-eyed Tree Frogs are currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN. While they are widespread and abundant in many areas, they are sensitive to habitat destruction and pollution. Conservation efforts are focused on protecting tropical rainforest habitats to ensure the survival of this and many other species.
