Bamboo Lemurs are primarily arboreal, spending most of their time in the treetops of Madagascar's rainforests. They are social animals, often living in small groups, and are known for their relatively quiet and shy behavior. Bamboo Lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, with several species living in specific habitats such as bamboo forests or rainforests. They play an important ecological role in their habitats, particularly in the dispersal of bamboo seeds.

Many species of Bamboo Lemurs are considered endangered or critically endangered, mainly due to habitat destruction, hunting, and the introduction of invasive species. Conservation efforts focus on habitat protection, reducing human-wildlife conflict, and supporting sustainable management practices in Madagascar’s forests.
