Black leopards, also known as melanistic leopards, exhibit similar behaviors to their spotted counterparts. They are solitary and elusive, primarily active during the night, and are skilled climbers and swimmers. Females give birth to litters of 1 to 3 cubs year-round after a gestation period of 90 to 105 days. Cubs remain with their mother for up to two years, learning essential hunting skills and survival techniques.

With a genetic mutation resulting in excess melanin, black leopards have a dark coat with faint rosettes, blending seamlessly into their surroundings. They possess powerful jaws, sharp claws, and remarkable agility, enabling them to take down prey with precision.
